Jonas's Week 7: Busch Gardens

Busch Gardens is not the most well-known theme park in the country; many more people think of Universal or Disney World when thinking of the top American amusement parks. However, people should begin to consider Busch gardens among the best, and even put it up there with Six Flags and even the two giants in Orlando, Florida.

First of all, Busch Gardens has a much wider variety of exciting roller coasters than nearly any other park. Rides like Sheikra, Kumba, and Montu incorporate suspenseful stops, many loops, and a multitude of spins and turns. The number of rides does not affect the quality of each ride. Just by experiencing each, it is easy to tell that clearly architects and builders spent their important, valuable time constructing masterpieces, as each ride is just as exciting while incorporating different elements than the others.

Busch Gardens not only features rides with plenty of twists, turns, and loops, it also features rides that reach incredible speeds. Busch Gardens Tampa Bay alone is home to at least five different rides which can top speeds of up to 60+ miles per hour. For thrill seekers, these speeds are exactly what they look for in an amusement park. Although the themes are lacking compared to Universal and Disney World, the overall fun of the rides is clearly not.

Most importantly, the wait times at Busch Gardens are not very long. When I went, it was a Saturday from midday to the evening, and even then the rides mostly had wait times of 30 minutes at most, which compared to the other parks is exceptional. For comparison, most of the top rides at Universal Studios Orlando take 35-40 minutes on a good day.

It is clear that Busch Gardens makes a strong case when being compared to other theme parks. I had an incredible time at the theme park, and so have millions of others nationwide. Overall, it is one of my favorite theme parks. What is your favorite theme park, and why?

  1. I had no idea that Busch Gardens had so many fun rides, and with such short lines! This will definitely be a stop next time my family goes to Orlando. Out of all of the amusement parks that I have been to, I would have to say it would be Universal. Sure the lines there are long, but they have many fun rides between their three, very big, parks.

  2. While Busch Gardens is one of my top theme parks, my overall top one would have to be Universal Islands of Adventure. While the lines are long I love the theming of the rides, aswell as the rides themselves. The food there is also good, while not great like that at Disney I believe it has the best of both worlds.
