Sarah Beinner - Week 5 - Was I wrong in thinking that water is an inconvenience?
I personally used to think that water was very inconvenient. One reason that I thought this was because it was so heavy and there was no good way to keep it with you. My backpack is heavy enough as it is without the extra weight of a water bottle. The other option is to hold it as you walk around, but this isn't a great alternative because doing this creates another thing for you to not lose, and putting an air tag on your water bottle feels excessive.
In class, people will have giant bottles of water sitting on their desks, which takes up so much space. Plus, if you happen to be short and have a tall water bottle, you then have to move your head around the cup in order to see the person speaking or writing at the front of the room.
Also, who needs that much water? Ten cups is a suggestion, not a set rule, and wouldn't you feel so lethargic by the third cup?
I also don't understand the people who say they like water. What is there to like? It has no taste, and if it does, then you probably shouldn't be consuming it.
Although I have and still do find water to be inconvenient, it is still very important. Dehydration is a serious problem that you don't want to have. Dehydration can lead to heat stroke, kidney problems, seizures, and low blood volume (all of which can be fatal if extreme).
As someone who is unable to donate blood because of my slightly low blood volume, getting a blood test is very terrifying. Two weeks ago, I had to get a blood test, and it was horrible. I ran out of blood in my left arm, and it wasn't replenishing fast enough, so they had to use my other arm. It was very scary, especially because I don't remember a lot of what happened. Therefore, my mom had to tell me what happened afterward, and I was apparently on the verge of passing out for most of the blood tests.
This is all just to say, that water is not inconvenient enough for you to not drink it because it is very crucial even if it gets in your way occasionally.
This is an interesting blog. I personally have never thought that water was inconvenient. Water is a beneficial item to carry in your backpack every day. To focus and give your best effort, you must have water with you. I enjoyed hearing this opinion; I've never heard it before.
