Jason Lewin: Week 8 blog 8: Halloween 🎃🎃🎃

        Halloween was always one of my favorite times of the year. Regardless if you consider it a holiday or not, who doesn't enjoy dressing up in costumes and getting a bunch of free candy. I always loved dressing up as my favorite superheroes and characters as a kid with my friends. It's fun having the opportunity to express yourself through a creative costume and the only thing limiting what you can do is your imagination. Plus, there's universal horror nights, haunted houses, corn mazes, costume contests, and a bunch of other fun activities to partake in. Additionally, who doesn't love carving pumpkins with their friends and families and creating jack-o-lanterns, and watching Halloween themed movies and shows. 

    Halloween was always packed and crazy in the city of Santa Monica. There were these three huge mansions on the corner of 17th street that were owned by this ex-movie producer. He would spend hundreds of thousand dollars decorating and bringing all of these huge and scary movie props. You wouldn't even imagine what a movie producer with all those resources and set making skills could do. The streets were filled with thousands of people, scrambling to get candy and close up views of these decorated houses. Lastly, I always loved at the end of the night dumping out all my candy, counting out the pieces, and sorting the candy and chocolates. I would keep track of how much I got every year and on a typical Halloween I would fill up almost an entire pillowcase.

    I like Halloween. It's not my favorite holiday, but I enjoy dressing up and hanging out with my friends. One thing that always gets me on Halloween is the fear that someone would attack me and I would die being stabbed to death while people around me think it's a stunt. Besides that I like to bake and watch scary movie with my friends!

      Many people say that Florida's weather is great because it is sunny, happy, and never cold. However, in my opinion, there is such a thing as too much sun. Leah Mousseri - Week 2 - A Book in a Game?!

      In the 21st century, there's a game for everyone. From shooting games to simple farming simulators it's almost impossible to not find a video game that interests you. One category of video games that I think is disliked by many for the wrong reasons is visual novel games. These games largely consist of dialogue and are often slow-paced and more relaxing compared to other genres. Visual novel games focus more on the story and characters rather than things like puzzles or combat.       The most common argument that I've heard against these games is that they're the same as a regular visual novel and have little to no actual gameplay in them. From my personal experience playing games in this genre, this is true for many visual novel games. I have played games that almost entirely consist of dialogue with a few choices that determine which ending you get. Zander 5: Why Do We Care About Remakes?

  A pattern I’ve begun to notice recently is that many of the most popular video games and movies often tend to be remakes of old pieces of media. While the most obvious examples of this would be the remakes of old Disney movies that have been released over the past several years, there are many more examples of this. For example, one of the most popular games this year was the remake of Resident Evil 4, and one of the most anticipated upcoming releases is the remake of Persona 3. So why is this, and what is the interest of playing a game you’ve already played, or watching a movie you’ve already seen? Well, firstly, there’s the appeal to those who never played or watched the previous piece of media. The appeal to this group is obvious, as to them, it’s new content. Even if one already knows the plot and twists of a story, experiencing it first hand can still be entertaining.
