Jonas Slusher Week 8: Why the Miami Heat are the Best Team in Basketball
The Miami Heat have long been a relevant team in the NBA, and are widely considered one of the better teams in basketball. However, many fans do not mention them as a direct contender in the title race today, largely due to the flashy moves other teams have made this offseason, such as the Bucks acquiring Damian Lillard via trade, and the Celtics adding Kristaps Porzingis and Jrue Holiday in deals as well. The Miami Heat are not the team that will wow anyone. They aren’t a big time, high scoring, flashy team. However, they are the “Hardest Working, Best Conditioned, Most Professional, Unselfish, Toughest, Meanest, Nastiest Team in the NBA”. Not only is this the moto they have chosen to put on their alternate courts and uniforms, it is something they exemplify in their playstyle. Coach Eric Spoelstra instills in each of this players, from the starting 5 to the 15th man that they have to give their all in all facets of the game, and to work toward the best quality they can provide. This leads to an idea around the team of hardworking and grittiness, known to many as “Heat Culture”. The Heat not only have the best culture in basketball, but also some of the best players. Their superstar players are 2 time all NBA and 3 time all defensive team Jimmy Butler, and All-Stars Bam Adebayo and Tyler Herro. Not only do the Heat have this star talent that rivals that of teams such as the Lakers and Celtics, they also have good depth pieces as well. Veteran point guard Kyle Lowry provides the tough playstyle needed by a player for Heat Culture, and Kevin Love, the 36 year old power forward, exemplifies leadership and mentorship for his fellow teammates at any and all times. Although there are many talented teams in the NBA, none are as special as the Miami Heat. The Heat are gritty, tough, and shine on the defensive side of the ball. The Heat should always be considered a contender because of the culture they radiate on and off the court. Who do you think is the best team in the NBA? Are the Heat real title contenders?
I think this is a great blog! I'm not a basketball fan but this blog was still very interesting and convincing. I'm now convinced the Miami Heat is the best basketball team because the great points you've made and how you confidently backed it up with information.
ReplyDeleteI think you wrote a great blog. In my opinion, I think the Nuggets, Warriors, and Bucks are all extremely strong teams that all have the ability to compete for the title and it would be quite difficult for the Miami Heat to compete with them with the way they've been playing lately. I completely agree though and think they shine brighter and have more passion than a majority of the other teams.
ReplyDeletePersonally, I do not believe that the Miami Heat is the best team in the league. As statistics prove, they have lost many games and are not the greatest. However, this does not mean that I do not think that they are a good team. I think that the Miami Heat is a unique team that is hardworking and is willing to fight for their wins.
